Firstly - what is a waist trainer?
Waist training is the process of reducing your waist size and accentuating your curves using a waist trainer or a tight-laced corset. These garments are meant to give the wearer an exaggerated hourglass figure.
The waist trainer has been around since 1500 (though known as a bodice then) but was made popular again by the Kardashians.
But does it actually work I hear you asking? So, I decided to buy one and test it out by wearing it for 3 weeks.
I opted to buy mine from www.shapewearaffair.com – which was recommended to me by a friend in the know.
I got the Double Compression Waist Trainer at a cost of $101 which may be a bit on the higher end side of things, but I wanted to test the best out there.
Day one and two of wearing the waist trainer wasn’t as bad as I anticipated it to be. I’ve heard they can be quite uncomfortable but this one is adjustable so you can ease yourself in. Of course, they advised us to get faster results to go tight but recommended a gentle approach to ease yourself in.
5 Benefits of Wearing A Waist Trainer
1) Eating smaller food portions (making you feel fuller)
2) Standing upright (improving your posture to reduce back pain)
3) Motivation (providing motivation and a constant reminder of your goals)
4) Immediate Slimming Results
5) Enhanced Workouts
Did it make me eat smaller portions? It certainly did – imagine someone giving you a tight hug all the time whilst you’re trying to eat – it’s kind of like of that!
Did it improve my posture? I sit at my desk a lot and find myself with my face in my screen bent over as I concentrate more and more. This Waist Trainer certainly does not allow you to slouch and keeps my posture straight so it’s a yes from me.
Did it provide motivation? My end goal is to lose weight – it’s most people's aim so when I wear this Waist Trainer and see how my body looks it not only gives me confidence, but it motivates me to get my body in shape. After all, I’d rather not wear it at all. I would prefer just to have a great waist in the first place.
Did it Make Me Look Like Kim? No, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t make me look slim. In fact, it made me look incredibly slim instantly.
Did I Burn More Calories During A Workout? Let’s just say I was sweaty mess around my waist area when wearing it during exercise. So, with that extra sweat, I’m burning more energy for sure.
Results-wise I measured my waist at the beginning of the week and at the end of week three and found a small change in measurement by 0.3 cm!
You will obtain better results wearing it for an extended period but I’m super impressed. It really does work!
We’re not all going to look like the Kardashians, but we can certainly get close with a good quality waist trainer.
